Detailed Information about the NSPC Endowment for Excellence (PDF)
The National String Project Consortium (NSPC) Board of Trustees announces the creation of a permanent endowment fund, the NSPC Endowment for Excellence, to support the mission, activities and growth of the NSPC in perpetuity. The endowment is created to assist current string projects with financial support, and to provide funding for special activities beyond the annual budget of the NSPC, such as student scholarships and site grants.
The NSPC is conducting a fundraising campaign to raise the $25,000 necessary to endow the fund. String projects around the country are invited to join in the effort to identify donors, such as alumni teachers and students, families, and corporate friends. Once the fund is fully endowed, the NSPC will make annual distribution grants and gifts to support the mission of cultivating new generations of highly qualified string teachers and ensuring vibrant and culturally diverse opportunities for students of all ages.
The NSPC is a group of 42 sites located at colleges and universities in 23 states around the nation who are training tomorrow’s string educators while providing accessible string instruction for youth and adults. The NSPC began under the auspices of the American String Teachers Association and later was founded as a 501(c)3 non-profit organization, celebrating its 20th anniversary in 2019. The NSPC was largely funded in its early years by a U.S. Department of Education’s Funds for the Improvement of Postsecondary Education (FIPSE) grant. In recent years the National Association of Music Merchants (NAMM) Foundation has become the leading funding source for emerging NSPC sites.
