University Offers Affordable Music Lessons to Grade-School Children as part of
The National String Project Consortium

(City, State)—The String Project at [name of university/ college] will be accepting new beginning students who are in third grade. The String Project is a unique program that introduces stringed instrument playing to grade school children and affords music degree undergraduates opportunities for hands-on classroom teaching experiences.

Under the guidance of a Master Teacher, a seasoned, experienced public school music teacher, undergraduate students teach children in the community how to read music and play the violin, viola, cello or bass. In the process, children develop good work habits and improve their ability to collaborate and cooperate in groups. “[quote from child participating describing benefits of the program]“, said [name of student], a student enrolled in the string program.

The [name of university/ college] String Project is associated with the National String Project Consortium. Currently, twenty-four universities and colleges nationwide offer similar String Projects to grade-schoolers in their communities. The program is designed to eliminate the long-term shortage of string music teachers in the United States while expanding the availability and accessibility of music education to young children.
